Take your time discovering a new environment.
PELARON First Contact is our extended introduction to scuba diving, built around the PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme. It provides additional time to become familiar with the equipment, adjust to breathing underwater and explore the completely new experience of moving beneath the surface.
First Contact does not change the PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme or add additional skills. It simply gives you more time. Time to become familiar with the equipment, adjust to breathing underwater and discover how it feels to move through an entirely new environment. There is no need to move ahead into additional skills: the purpose is simply to give you the time and space to experience scuba and become comfortable underwater.
This makes First Contact particularly suited to those whose introduction to scuba is followed by an aquarium dive or a first experience in open water. Becoming familiar with the underwater environment beforehand leaves more opportunity to experience and enjoy what comes next.
PELARON also offers PADI Discover Scuba Diving as a standalone introduction to scuba diving.
First Contact and PADI Discover Scuba Diving are introductory experiences, not diver certification courses. Neither results in a scuba certification, nor are they substitutes for training programmes that lead to certification. If you decide that diving is for you, the next step is a recognised entry-level diver course.

Discover what it feels like to breathe underwater and experience scuba diving under professional supervision. PADI Discover Scuba Diving introduces you to scuba equipment, essential concepts and your first underwater experience.
It is an excellent way to discover scuba before deciding whether you would like to continue into diver training.
PADI Discover Scuba Diving is an introductory experience and does not result in diver certification. It is not a substitute for a scuba training programme that leads to certification.

You are not expected to arrive knowing how scuba works. The programme begins with explanation, equipment orientation and a measured transition into the water. An instructor stays close while you build comfort and control.
It is suitable for adults with no previous experience and for people who want a thoughtful re-introduction after time away.

Bring the pieces together in a controlled deep-water experience with close supervision.

01Do I need any previous experience?
No. First Contact is designed for adults with no previous scuba experience as well as people who want a more structured re-introduction.
02Is this a certification course?
No. It is an introductory PELARON programme. No certification is awarded.
03Is equipment included?
Use of the required scuba equipment is included. Sizing and any personal requirements are confirmed before the first session.
04What about medical requirements?
You will complete a standard medical screening process before participation. Some answers may require medical clearance before entering the water.
05Can I attend privately?
Where a regional operation offers the VIP format, it is designed for one participant or two participants booking together.
06What happens after First Contact?
The regional operation can review the experience with you and recommend an appropriate next training step. Any fee-credit arrangement is confirmed for the applicable service area.
